How does a phone mystery game work?

The premise is simple: you receive the fictional phone of someone connected to a case. Its home screen behaves like a real device. Read messages, browse the gallery, inspect call history, open the calendar or review transactions. Every app adds context, but none tells the full story alone.

Progress comes from cross-checking. A message places someone at one location; a photo reveals a different time; a payment confirms a detour nobody mentioned. You are not simply hunting clickable objects: you are rebuilding a timeline and deciding who can be trusted.

02

Why is a phone such a strong mystery setting?

A phone keeps very different fragments of a life: private conversations, habits, movements, purchases, searches and memories. That variety reveals a character without lengthy exposition. A dismissed notification or renamed contact can say as much as a formal witness statement.

The interface is familiar too. There are no complex controls to learn: opening a thread, going back or zooming into a photo already feels natural. Your attention stays on the story and the deductions.

A puzzle game without artificial riddles

In Unlocked, the problems are part of the fiction. There is no arbitrary grid of symbols placed in a room just to slow you down. Answers live in people’s behaviour, timestamps and contradictions.

Difficulty comes from the amount of information you need to connect. Accessible cases limit the number of simultaneous threads. Hard cases add more characters, red herrings and events that must be placed in the right order.

04

Can you play alone?

Yes. Unlocked is designed to be solved solo, at your own pace, and offline once cases are downloaded. It also works well with a partner: one person can hold the phone while the other records times, compares stories and challenges each theory.

There is no timer. Leave a case, return later and continue exactly where you stopped with progress saving.
